 AddNew Question

What is the workaround to add a new record (using unbound controls) to a
recordset without getting the "no current record" error?

I read that if there is data in the fields before an AddNew method and it's
not a saved record you get the above error. If you clear the controls then
the update gives you a blank record with no error. Is there a way to stop
the process after the addnew to allow a user to enter data in the data
entry form in VB 5.0?
Any help or sympathy will be appreciated.
