 Using the VB6 DataEnvironment and DataReport designers

Question:  Regarding parameters, it is unclear how to use them with the
DataEnvironment designer.  I can insert a '?' to indicate a parameter in the
SQL and the 'Parameter' tab of the designer's dialog allows me to configure
and set the value of the parameter, but how do I programmatically set its
value?

For example, I want to create a report that allows me to pass in a row ID
and then generate a report page solely for that ID.  It sure seems that
using parameters here is the right idea but trying to use the
Commands(1).parameters collection doesn't seem to get me there; I get an
error 3708, Method 'Item' of object 'Commands' failed.

Ideas?

Ok, never mind.  I was right about how to get there.  I just had a bug that
was getting in the way.

Please help! How did you get this to work.

I'm getting nothing, no errors or records.

code:
Private Sub Form_Load()
    Dim varTest

    varTest = "test"

    DataEnvironment1.Commands("cmdTest").Parameters("varParam").Value =
varTest

End Sub

My command name is cmdTest. I used the SQL Builder to construct this sql
statement
SELECT CompanyName FROM Customers WHERE CompanyName = ?

Parameter properties:
Name: varParam
Direction: Input/Output
Data Type: adVariant
Value: varTest

I would really appriecate any help, this is driving me crazy.

Thanks

Deb

See my reply to "ckkiet" with the subject "Pass string to dataenvironment".

Should help you get data.  It works for me.
