 DB login prompt

I realy need help about it. I guess it's a simple settings I have missed...

I have a weird problem. I installed Delphi4 a while ago and always used
Database Desktop creating & using DB files.
Now I am trying to connect to MS Access MSB files from the SQL Explorer
and when trying to expand the MS Access 97 Database I'm getting a login
prompt.
In fact any DB that I'm tring to expand requests a user & password which
doesn't make sense in many cases. Surely not for the MS Access.
The same happens if I try to access the DB using a TTable and specifying MS
Access 97 Database.
What's wrong?

Yossi.

I am not sure with your explorer but.....

If you are already using a database component, then set the LoginPrompt
property to False.

If not, you will need to use one and point it to your alias, and then do the
above.

Actually you should always use a database component, as there is a limit on
the amount of concurrent connections you can make without one, so it makes
good sense.

By the way, user names and passwords can be set on Access databases, so if
this is the case.

Set

USERNAME=yourusername
PASSWORD=yourpassword

in the params strings list of the database component.

Hope this helps,

Greg.
