Need recommendation for books on VB 5.0

Need recommendation for books on VB 5.0

I teach two college level courses in Visual Basic.  We are committed to
upgrading to VB 5.0, and due to to go to it in September.
Unfortunately, I have to have my VB 5.0 textbooks selected by JUNE 1.  I
simply do not have enough time to completely go through the few VB 5.0
books I can get my hands own...the publishers can't get them to me in
time (plus many will not be printed until after my selection deadline!).

I need recommendations for 1 or 2 books
One as an introduction to Visual Basic 5.0.  The students already know
the basic  computer logic, but have no real experience programming in
ANY language.
The second is an intermediate to advanced book dealing with databases,
active x, and internet integration.

It's perfectly legitimate for me to use the same book in both courses.

Any suggestions about books you've actually used would be GREATLY
APPRECIATED.

Sincerely,
Rita

Need recommendation for books on VB 5.0

For the intro book, I would recommend Using Visual Basic 5 published by
Que. It covers a variety of topics including databases, rdo, dao. It
assumes no previous VB knowledge and is fairly easy to understand.

As to the second book, I heard that Dan Appleman has a book on Active X and
VB 5 coming out, but I have not been able to pick it up yet. Judging by his
prior books that might be just what you are looking for.

Hope that helps.
