JDBC and Visual Cafe Pro: Please Help

I am new to Java.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I am
trying to connect to a database through the standard JDBC API using
Symantec's visual cafe pro.

An ODBC driver is loaded on my machine that correctly connects to
an Oracle database (named Bird_dog).

I cannot get the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver to load in my Java applet.
My book says you can use a statement like this to load the driver:

Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");

I believe sun.jdbc.odbc is a package, and JdbcOdbcDriver is a class.
If so, where do I find this package?  I downloaded the JDBC-ODBC bridge
for Win95 from the sun site.  This has some class files and a .dll.  I
put the Jdbcodbc.dll in my Java/Bin directory.  I put the classes in the
Java/Lib (the classes were JdbcOdbc.class and OdbcDef.class).  This
didn't seem to help.

I always get a ClassNotFound exception.  If I leave out the Class.forName,
I get a SQLException: Driver not loaded, as I would expect if the Class.forName
is supposed to load the driver.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am not certain, but did you check  your classpath?
You right sun.jdbc.odbc translates to sun\jdbc\odbc relative to the
directories set in your classpath.

Hope this helps.
