 PDOXUSRS.NET file (help!)

Hi guys and gals,

we wrote an application in cppbuilder 4 and we are using the BDE
(borland database engine).  we tried testing this application on a
networked computer. (C drive is READ ONLY and D drive is read/write).
of course, as soon as we try and import data into paradox format using
the BDE, the BDE wants to write a file called PDOXUSRS.NET to "C:\".
and that is the problem.  how do we change the idiot thing to write to
"D:\" or somewhere else?!

love and joy to you,
arovo.

Use bdeadmin.exe which is in the BDE dirctory. [part of the
Borland\Dlephi... files] Go to databases and select the database alias
which your app uses. Set the netfile path to something like
D:\data\net, where your datafiles are in D:\data.  It must be the
exact same directory for all users, differing only by the drive letter
in the case where the server D drive appears as a different letter on
a user's machine. Each machine on the net has its own BDE and its own
configuration file with this path info in it.

All users must have write permission for the netfile, and it must not
be in the root directory of any drive. Also, it is recommended that it
not be in the data directory.

hth,
Dan
