Jet Engine stripping off leading zero

Jet Engine stripping off leading zero

Were're writing a VB 4.0 telephany app and we store passcodes as 6
character fixed length strings.  Only problem is that the database strips
off the leading zero, ie 0770 becomes 770.  Called MS and they said "It
shouldn't do that". I'm not the programmer directly involved with the Jet
engine code but our discussions point to a bug in the database code.  Any
one have a clue???

Are you sure that you don't have the passcode field set as a number. If
so it will remove the leading zero.  Make sure you have it set as a text
field.  If you need to make sure the passcode is a number you can use an
isnumeric function prior to storing.
