Why my DataModules don't seem to work?

Why my DataModules don't seem to work?

I'm a newbie to Delphi and I've been trying to follow the 'Jump start'
section of the Getting started guide.  Everything goes fine 'till I get
to place a DBGrid on a form. The grid is linked to the sample DataModule that
came with D2 named 'CustomerData', so it's supposed to display all the
data of the underlying table.  The thing is that the grid does not
display any data!!  The DataModule seems to be correctly connected to
the database alias (DBDEMOS).  I also tried connecting a DBGrid
directly to the table that I want and it works fine.  I really would
like to be able to use the DataModules because of its many advantages.

Can anyone suggest something to solve this?
Is this a problem of BDE configuration?

I also tryied creating anew data module, including a table control
connected to a BDE table, and a DataSource object connected to the
table control (as in the example DataModule).  Same frustrating results.

BTW: I'm using Delphi Desktop 2.0 on a DX2-80, 8MB RAM, Win95, and
everything is installed in the default directories.

(Direct e-mail response appreciated)

My first reaction:

The problem is in the documentation (again)!  You need to make
the underlying table ACTIVE before you will actually see anything.
They left out this step.  Go to your data model, select the table
and change the first property (Active) to TRUE.

The DataModule seems to be correctly connected to

My second reaction:

  How did you do this?

I really would

I also struggled with this one, for four hours! It's a {*filter*}y nice way
to start a career as a Delphi programmer. <g>.

They forgot to mention two things:

The first was mentioned here about setting the table Active.

The second is that you have to set the tablename property.

Regards.
