 Auto-number as primary key
Can someone give me their opinion on always using an auto-
number field as the primary key in a table?  Thanks,
michaelt

 Auto-number as primary key

A lot of your {*filter*} database people cringe at the thought of this.
I've been doing database work for a pretty long time now (10+ years).
I work with MS Sql now, and use autonumber fields as the PK.  I think
it just makes sense, sometimes keys change.  The purists will say, "if
your keys changed, then you didn't do the upfront work, blah blah
blah".  Well, I've never been able to do all the upfront work I should
be doing.  Maybe if I work for some fat company one day I will be able
to, but until then, I have to plan ahead for change.
