Distribution of VB6/ADO applications: General Question.

Distribution of VB6/ADO applications: General Question.

We distribute our Access97 applications via the ODE. Works fine. Of course
it is a large runtime footprint.

If we convert an app to VB6.0 with ADO, will we still be able to sell
(distribute) our application?

I'm hearing that all sorts of problems exist in using the setup wizard (P&
D) and that we are being advised by people to stick with Access until the PD
tool is stable. Or that we should spend several hundred bucks on an install
tool like Wise.

I'd appreciate some postings on this subject of distributing apps.

Thanks,

Paul

Hello Paul, Hows the change going ? Remember giving birth is not easy
:-)

I am in the same boat as you - Still figuring out how to get a good
distribution package. Will let you know what happens.

If microsoft haven't fixed the P&DWizard by now, they won't !!!!

Then again some people have no problems with it. Might be to do with
older versions of Windows on the target machines.

I really like InstallShield and InstallShield Express. Never had a
problem with either. I think Express is around $200, but it's a good
investment.
