 Distributing App with ADO

Darin,

Installation should not affect old applications, but it does not mean it
will be good. For example, if you have MDAC 2.6 but during installation
replaced it with MDAC 2.5 or older, then MDAC probably will be corrupted and
some applications may not work. But installation should ask you if you would
like to replace existing files with old one. What particular problem do you
have? Could you be more specific?

 Distributing App with ADO

Well,

When I was distibuting DAO app it caused dao3.5 dll missing in references of
the access app.  I do not know if it happened on install or uninstall but I
am suspecting on uninstall.  What was weird was the dll's in microsoft
shared/dao file were hidden!
I am certain that Wise would know of this problem since wise installation is
used by many major companies. I have searched their knowledge base. Thanks
for your response.  When did Access change over to ADO or have is it still
using DAO?

 Distributing App with ADO
Hi,

I have recently changed my DAO app to ADO (uses an Access2000 db as backend)
and when installing/uninstalling the previous app with DAO seemed to corrupt
some Access App's on users computers.  Causing the DAO dll missing in the
Access app's references.  My question is will ADO have any affect on Access
app's?  I am using Wise to install - so test for MDAC and if not installed I
install.  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If you have Access installed on your PC, then DAO should be installed as
well. Latest version of it is 3.6
