 Only as Administrator VB works
I have a database program, that uses DAO (Access 2000),
VB6 SP5 and CR8.
The database is in a shared folde in the server Win2000,
and the cliente machines with Win98 that have installed my
program only can access to the database if the user is
logged as Administrator, otherwise when I try to update o
query the database I have a error.
And I don' t want that every user has Administrator
privileges.
I'm so worry. please help to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.

What error are you getting when you update or query?  Do the users
have write permission in the directory?

The permission in the directory is Everyone write and
readfor the folder C:\AviNET in the server.
And the error I get is something like this:
"MS Jet database engine can't open the
file "\\Server\AviNET\Sales\Sales.mdb". It's openen in
exclusive mode by another user or you don't have
permision..."

George,

Backup your data file.  From one of the workstations that is getting
the error, at the DOS prompt with no one else using the application,
try to delete the LDB file.  If that is successful, try deleting the
MDB file.  If you can delete these two files, then I'm at a loss.

Check for expired passwords, also, you should create an user (normal) for
every client it will connect to the DB and share or set RWX privileges to
the folder...
