 SQL .VBX or .DLL Needed
Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for a Visual Basic Professional .VBX or .DLL that
will allow me to use more powerful SQL statements than that
allowed by Visual Basic's Jet Engine.  Something along the line
of the power offered by FoxPro's SQL-Select statements.

If you have any information as to where I might order
something,
or you might steer me in the right direction, please e-mail me.

Thank you.

What are you trying to do?  I have used some _way_ complex SQL in my
VB apps. I don't use the Data Control, ever, just dynasets and other
objects of that sort.  If you have Access, you can build stored
queries within your database and use the QueryDefs in VB for more
speed.

This requires the COMLYR.EXE from ftp.microsoft.com, and possible the
ACCSVC.EXE, same location.  I have yet to find a query I can't do
using this technique.

Thank you much for your reply.  I think you have set me thinking in a new
direction.  What I am working with is V.B., attaching (via SQL and
DynaSets, no Data Control) to a FoxPro 2.5 database.  Actually 3, one
containing 1993 data, one 1994 data, and one 1995 data.  These databases
are exact in their structures, and contain transactional sales data.

The user of the V.B. program fills out a "Parameter Screen" stating the
date ranges they require data from, and how they want it sorted (by
certain key fields, ect.).  This parameter screen will start off being
rather rigid in form at first, until I get more comfortable working with
SQL statements from V.B. to a FoxPro "attached" table.  The "attachment",
BTW, is not from a MDB database file.  I am attaching directly to the
databases via SQL.

Your idea of creating a MDB file and attaching through that, with
predefined queries with parameters (which I could change during the
execution from the V.B. application) is a direction I hadn't been thinking
about.  Thank you for your response!  I'll give this a shot, and if I
still have further trouble, I'll post again.

BTW, the SQL statement that I had been using in FoxPro is as follows:

Select Month, Item_No, Item_Desc, Sum(Quantity) as Quantity, ;
    Sum(Tot_Sale) as Tot_Sale ;
    From N:\Sales\95Sales.DBF ;
    Where Month>='19950101' and Month<='19950301' ; *1st Qtr Sales
    Group By Month, Item_No ;
    Order By Item_No ;
    Into Table C:\DOWNLOAD\1QtrSls.DBF

Thanks again!  And I welcome any more input you may have...
