create a standby db on the same host (IPC)
ORACLE 8.1.7 EE

Just followed the ORACLE 8i manual to create a standby db on the same
host (Win2k) as the primary database.

When try to connect to the standby database:

got ORA-12505.

Check
- the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora
- the network log and trace file,
- listener state
It shows no problem about network configuration.

Any idea?
Thanks in advance!

ORA-12505 indicates the listener.ora SID definition doesn't match an
existing ORA_SID definition for the standby database.
Are you sure they are correct?

Thanks for the help.
I will try again if I have time next week.
I found either the second db is a standby database or a second database,
there is a little difference on WinNT/Win2K and UNIX.
