Hello all,
I am quite new to the world of Oracle, I was wondering if someone could
lead me to the best way/place/reference to start to get to know Oracle.
I am quite familiar with Access97 and most microsoft office programs.

thanks a lot

If it's a book you are after then the official (i.e. Oracle published)
Concepts Manual is a good start.  There are 3rd party offerings but I
haven't seen any which give a good a general intro.
Another approach would be to get a copy of the software and install it
on your PC, then play.
Finally consider a training course.  Loads of them around, but IMO
very difficult to be sure that all delegates are at the same starting
point as you, and the instructer may be good or bad.

You may want to start with Personal Oracle8 (PO8) for Win95/NT. You can
get to know the basic ideas and principles of Oracle as a major RDBMS.
You can order a 30-day trial, fully-functional copy of PO8 from
www.oracle.com and install on an NT box (I would avoid win95). BY
installing, configuring and possibly tuning a start-up database you will
learn a lot hands-on knowledge. There is good on-line documentation that
comes with the trial CD, and I consider it the best source of reference.
Finally, check this newsgroup frequently.

I would like to add this comment:  Personal Oracle8 also works on Windows98
with no problem (I tested myself)
