connection problem with Oracle 8.1.5i (Linux)
Hello,

I'm using Oracle 8.1.5i, debian GNU/Linux 2.2, linux 2.2.14
When starting sqlplus as user oracle, it works.
However, it's impossible to start it as an other user (root included)

smouss:~# sqlplus scott/tiger
(...)
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

Environment variable have been set in the right way

Any help is welcomed.
Thanks !

HI
make sure you have ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME set correctly.

I doubt it.  Make sure that ORACLE_SID is set to the instance's SID
that you want to use.

connection problem with Oracle 8.1.5i (Linux)
HI there,

I use LINUX REDHAT 6.1 and follow the installation carefully.
The weird thing is after I intalled the software it was working just fine.

But I have the same problem after I REBOOT the machine.
I check ENV, it is all fine.
Also, when I use dbassist &, it also tells me ORACLE IS NOT AVAILABLE.
Would appreciate anyone helps me.
Thanks

Eric Cheng
