recover managed standby database doesn't work

Hello everybody
I've got a problem with
recover managed standby database command.
Database shows the following errors:
SVRMGR> recover managed standby database;
ORA-00308: cannot open archived log
'/opt/oracle/admin/ANDRO8i/arch/ANDRO8i0000000007.arc'
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory
Additional information: 3
The reason is obvious : that archive log hasn't been yet generated on the main
database - but shouldn't standby database wait for it?
When I do alter system archive log current on the main database, it works ok,
archive log is copied on standby database and is applied when I issue recover
standby database command.
What can be the reason?
Thanks in advance
Rafal

recover managed standby database doesn't work

After starting the standby database you shout issue the "recover standby
database" and then "auto", Once all the archive logs have been recovered
then you need to issue the "recover managed standby database" command.
Could you check on your system and see if you can do a "ls
'/opt/oracle/admin/ANDRO8i/arch/ANDRO8i0000000007.arc'"!
What OS are you using?

Linux
The problem went away when I created a new controlfile (from trace) for the main
database, and then new standby controlfile...
But thanks anyway :)
