Oracle on HP V Class

 Oracle on HP V Class
One of our clients have just upgraded from a K class H.P Server to the new V
class.

They are reporting an Oracle performance reduction rather than the expected
dramatic performance increase

 Oracle on HP V Class

John,

Thanks for this warning.
I'm quite sure that the truth is slightly more complicated.

Can you tell us whether the upgrade was done using the same "init" file,
or was a new database created and the data imported into it?
Has the layout of the datafiles over the filesystems changed a lot?
Has the disk layout (striping, raid, etc or not) changed a lot?
etc. etc.
We are curious...

 Oracle on HP V Class
I never remember what the classification
of HP boxes is so I may be talking rubbish
here, but is it possibly a case of 32 bit
software being run on a 64 bit box .  I
vaguely recall reading about some problem
doing this on HP's which resulted in slower
operation.
