Sybase 12.5 keeps the processor busy...
Hi,

I've just installed 12.5 on Solaris. The server is sitting around consuming
90% of the CPU. There are no clients. Anyone got a clue?

By default, ASE is set up to hog the cpu and will loop around
waiting for work to do rather than yeild the cpu, in order to provide
the fastest response.  You can configure it to be less cpu-greedy
by lowering the sp_configure parameter "runnable process search count".

I installed Syb12.5 for Linux and with the text/seach/server thingy
running, the smoke came out of my laptop 99% cpu-activity, so I didn't
start that again,
and it was OK (dont know why you would need it anyway)

There's a bug with EFTS which makes it eat 99% CPU.  The latest EBF 10,000
something fixes it.
