Sybase 11 for NT and IPX/SPX slow response

If you can't use M$'s "wolverine" tcp stack (tcp32b.exe on their
website,
somewhere under http://www.***.com/ ) then make sure you are
loading Novell's client32 package.  The improvement is substantial.
M$ has little incentive to write a really good IPX/SPX implementation.

Sybase 11 for NT and IPX/SPX slow response

To All:

I have a performance problem that could use some expert opinion.  We
want to switch platforms from Novell to NT for Sybase.  The main problem
we were having was very poor response time using the IPX/SPX protocol.
Now before everyone jumps in and says use IP, we can't go that route
because all of the client machines are Windows 3.1 or 3.11 and because
of resource limitations cannot use IP on these machines.  We tried to
load a Novell IPX/SPX stack on the NT server but got nowhere with it.
To give you an idea of just how slow it was, a query that took 20
seconds to complete using IP took 3 1/2 minutes using the Microsoft
IPX/SPX protocol.  Any help would be appreciated.
