Visual Basic 4.0 slooooowwly connecting to SQLAnywhere

Hi all,
I have a small vb 4.0 app that connects to a 16 bit Sybase SQL
Anywhere database via a 32 bit ODBC data source.  My 32 bit app consists
of a single form which hits 7 tables via 4 data controls and some
straight code.  During development I simply connected with dbeng50 and
the speed was acceptable.  Now I'm trying to integrate with dbsrv50.
Though the database is local I start it with dbsrv50 and launch
dbclient -x NetBIOS.  I then start my vb app and the time of great
waiting begins.  Everything works fine, it just takes longer by a factor
of 5 to 10.  Perhaps dbclient is slow in that it is trying to gaze out
over the network while my machine has no network card installed?  I'm
pretty much in Guessland now, so any input would be really appreciated!

            Thank you,
                Scott
