Now that Oracle has a firm hold on what was Digital's Rdb, prices are about
to go through the roof!  They would basically price us out of the market
with their per-user licensing.  Guess that's what happens when you have a
virtual monopoly!

Anyway, our next best option is to convert to Sybase.  But we have a lot of
legacy code talking to Rdb, including some major DEC RALLY applications.

Question:

1) What have your experiences been good/bad in converting?

2) Any major gotchas?

3) Any bridge to let legacy code (particularly RALLY) switch over to Sybase
database for read/write access?

4) Any products for translating Rdb SQL into Sybase's syntax (or is it very
standardized?)?
