 jConnect-5_2: how to send file to Open Server application without ct_data_info(), ct_send_data()

We have an Open Client application which sends a file to our Open Server

based server by creating a CS_IODESC structure with iotype = CS_IODATA
and datatype = CS_TEXT_TYPE before calling ct_send_data() repeatedly to
send the data.

This causes the bulk_handler routine on our Open Server application to
be invoked where we store the file.

I see that jConnect offers a class com.sybase.jdbcx.TextPointer which
does have a sendData() method which seems to work like the
ct_send_data() of Open Client, but TextPointer must be returned by
the getSybTextPointer() method of a SybResultSet object, which is
seemingly only available as a result of a createStatement(),
specifically one that returns a text field (SQL statement).

I suspect other people have had this problem too.  Is there a way
to send a file to an Open Server application from jdbc, as was possible
with ct_data_info()/ct_send_data()?
