Paul,

I had encountered a similar message (different status) when an attempt was
made to start the backup server while it was already running.  I received a:

Network error: status = 12 - Specified server name attribute could not be
found

I am assuming that you are encountering this when attempting to start the
backup server?

Do you have any conflicts in port assignments?

Check your interfaces entries.

If it is not this, then I have had it before when
1. A dump or dump tran has failed, and all other cron dumps have stacked up
behind it.
2. The system needed a reboot because of the above.

This is on Solaris, both sys10 and 11.

I've had a similar problem when two servers (one 10, one XI) were on
one box (RS/6000). The 10 server was running but when the start script
for the other was executed, aforementioned error occurred. No obvious
port conflicts were noticable. A reboot of both servers saw the error
clear.
