 Strange date behavior with Access/Sybase

When I set the value of a date/time field to NOW() in an Access97 front-end
for a Sybase System 11 database, the time gets set to the current hour and
then :00 or :01 for the minutes, regardless of the actual time.

Can anyone tell me why this happens and how to fix it?

I looked at some seemingly identical Access code on the same Windows machine
against another Sybase database on the same Unix machine and it works
perfectly. I must be missing somthing...
