Microsoft's SQL Server, Borland's SQL Link and MS ACCESS....

To any/all installers of Microsoft SQL Server (..help!):

I had been trying to get Microsoft SQL Server 1.1 running AND working with
clients on a 486 server for some time and recently have installed version
4.2 with the same lock up problems. This is the setup:

Server:
DELL 466/ME
 486 66 MZ
 32MB memory
 500MB disk
 OS/2 1.3 (Microsoft's)
 SMC Elite Combo ethernet card
Netware Requester for OS/2 version 1.3
 SQL Server 4.2
        Memory 12MB
        Removed DOS shell capabilities
        Master.db 15 MB
50 MB file containing 3 databases

Clients:
DELL 466/ME
        Hardware configuration as above
Using Paradox 4.0 and SQL Link 1.1
        Microsoft Access

Problems:
We can DOWNload fine from the server with tables of 700 or so rows,
however,
when we try to UPload a table of the same size (only one additional
column),
the server and client get sluggish and they both just hang after about
1/3 to
2/3 of the way done.

I'd appreciate any responses from anyone with ideas/suggestions or
similar experiences.

Thanks in advance!

Peter
