 Help needed on SQL Failure !!

Hello there,
I'm using Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.0 on a WindowsNT Server machine. I'm trying
to connect a C++ application to the database engine through ODBC but
somewhere in the process i get this error in the de{*filter*} :

SQL Failure: [Sybase][ODBC Driver]General error: attempted two active
database requests
  SqlState: S1000 Native -298

I already setup the following parameters :

SQLSetStmtOption(hstmt, SQL_CONCURRENCY, SQL_CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
 SQLSetStmtOption(hstmt, SQL_CURSOR_TYPE, SQL_CURSOR_KEYSET_DRIVEN);

to use the server side cursors and to avoid problems with multiple
statements but I still get the error.
any idea of what It can be?
I had a similar problem using SQL-Server but as soon i put the
aforementioned statements, it goes away. PLease can someone help me out on
thi issue?

thanks a lot.
