 odbc2 and system10

Hi,

Has anyone been able to get odbc2.0 working with sybase system10?

I was using odbc1.1 with no problems against sybase system10.

I converted my client box to odbc2.0, loaded instcat.sql from the odbc2.0 kit,
and, now I just hang after the odbc connection is made.

I'm having no problems at all using nt sql-server and odbc 2.0, there even is
a noticable speed increase.

Is this part of the parting of the ways between sybase and ms?

I don't know if it will solve your problem or not, but System 10 has all of
the ODBC catalog stored procedures built in.  There is no need for instcat.sql.

You might try building a new test server with doing the instcat and see if
if works.

I heard some time ago that MS ODBC 2.0 was known to be incompatible with
Sybase System 10 SQL Server. Apparently MS were notified of this problem prior
to its release and their response was that they had no plans to rectify the
problem... So, yes, it is part of the parting of the ways. It is worth noting
that Sybase and Microsoft's agreement to keep their API's compatible applies
only to the db-lib 4.2 API, it _does not_ extend to ODBC apparently. So MS are
quite free to make ODBC as incompatible with Sybase SQL Servers as they like...
