HELP: Problem storing large files in image field

Hi,

we're trying to store large files in an image field in Sybase.

This is done in Visual Basic 4, directly using the ODBC API
(multiple calls to SQLPutData). The problem is that the driver
seems to create a SQL statement on the client side (e.g. INSERT
into documents(file, data) values ('SomeFile', 0x20202020...)).

After a few mSecs the driver says: Unable to handle strings larger
than 65500 bytes.

Windows NT 3.51
Visual Basic 4.0
Intersolve ODBC 2.11
Open Client 10.0.3
Sybase 10.0.1 (AIX)

Anyone knows about this or knows what to do?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

please E-Mail,

thanx,

Paul.

Paul,

Would using the passthrough option take care of this??  I believe it is
64 in the Options property of the datacontrol.  I'm not guaranteeing it
works, but it's worth a shot.

While this may not help your ODBC problem Sylvain Faust Inc. markets a
product called SQL-Sombrero.  This product uses DB-Library and ships
with a sample which does exactly what you are trying to do.
