 what is a dumpdevice?
I notice a term called 'Dump the desired database to the disk dump'
I want to ask what is a dump device?
What is it used to for?

 what is a dumpdevice?

DumpDevice is really obselete nowadays. It means a logical device which
maps to a physical file or tape drive.
In newer versions of sybase (> System 10), you can dump directly to the
file or tape media without the use of dumpdevice.
