You need to remove the shared memory segments with an "ipcrm" command.
The Informix shared memory segments are owned by:
   user=root, group=informix.
You can identify them by:
1) Adding your Informix SERVERNUM (in hex) to 5256.
2) Substitute the result from step (1) for "xxxx" in
   the following command:   ipcs -m | grep "xxxx"

For example, if SERVERNUM=30 (x'1E'), the command would be:

$ ipcs -m | grep 5274
m        10 0x52744801 --rw-rw----     root informix
m        11 0x52744802 --rw-rw----     root informix
m        12 0x52744803 --rw-rw-rw-     root informix
