 interval to int

Hi all,

THis should be obvious but I can't find the answer:

how do you convert an interval to an integer ... as in:

select noofweeksvacation from vacation_table where
yearsservice <= interval (today - startdate) year to year

the column yearsservice is a smallint

i keep getting an error when doing this ...

thanks,
marc
