The chunk specified does not exist

Hi,

IDS Version 7.30.UC3

We have been improving the layout of some of our chunks. During this, we marked a mirror chunk down (the primary is still online).

Then we moved the logical volume that the link was pointing to, and attempted to bring the chunk back online, however onspaces reports the following:

# onspaces -s PFXDBS -p /dev/pfx_dbs4_m -o 0 -O
The chunk specified does not exist.

Using onmonitor, it just beeps and returns to the menu.

The link is set up as follows:
lrwxrwxr-x   1 informix   informix        16 Dec 17 14:19 /dev/pfx_dbs4_m -> /dev/vg20/rlvol9

and the logical volume pointed to is:
crw-rw----   1 informix   informix    64 0x200009 Dec 17 11:39 /dev/vg20/rlvol9

The onstat -d listing shows the chunk as:
8057c398 51  2   0        512000   0                 MD-   /dev/pfx_dbs4_m

Apart from this, the engine is running well, and no problems are reported in the log file etc. Any ideas as to why it thinks that the chunk does not exist?

Thanks,
Jason

Are your dbspaces named in uppercase, or should you be writing pfxdbs?
Actually, you *should* be writing that, even if you *are* writing PFXDBS.
Some places that are meant to be case-insensitive have a {*filter*} habit of
forgetting the rules occasionally... /etc/services is a classic example on
some platforms.

To clarify, when I say you *should* be using lowercase, I mean it in the
sense that a school teacher will tell you to ask if you *may* go to the
toilet - proper practice. But if there's already a pool on the floor (ie
uppercase names) then keep trying - don't rock the boat.

How many more mixed metaphors can I throw in? *sheesh*

I'd avoid upper case.  Can you dd from the rvol19 ??? If yes, can
you dd from the link?
