 JDBC-ODBC problem with JBuilder

I am trying to get my program to read a list of table names.  I use the
following code (after establishing the connection successfully)

    //  Get a list of table names for the Icon database and put these names
    //  in an appropriate combo list box.

    String tableNames[] = new String[1000];

    short index = 0;
    String[]   tableTypes  = {"TABLE"};
    ResultSet rs = meta.getTables(null, null, "%", tableTypes);
    while (rs.next())
      tableNames[index++] = rs.getString("TABLE_NAME");

Can anyone suggest why I get a CURSOR NOT OPEN error from the ODBC driver on
the call to rs.next()?  It doesn't happen when I connect to databases on
other platforms using different ODBC drivers - and only happens

Many thanks,
