move rows from chunk to another chunk
Hi!
Is it possible to move some rows from chunk to another chunk without
unload-upload a whole table?

Regards,
Robert

Well,

You can't store a tables in a chunk. You store tables in a DBSPACE.

You can store part of a table in another DBSPACE using frangmentation
by rowrobin or user defined rules.

With ALTER FRACMENT instruccion you can relocate your table.

ALTER FRAGMENT ON TABLE account
INIT FRAGMENT BY EXPRESSION
col1 < 0 in dbsp1,
col2 >= 0in dbsp2;

See ALTER FRAGMENT sintax in detail.

I hope this help.

move rows from chunk to another chunk
Hi,

moving rows means moving data from table1 in chunk1 to table1 in chunk2 ??
if yes you can do it by only unload to " filename" select ...  and load from
"file" insert into ...

Aomar

move rows from chunk to another chunk
Can we create another feature request for this?

You can try writing a feature request, but you will need to do some explaining
of what you want and why you want it, and why we should dedicate resource to
this FR instead of the others we have available to work on.  One issue will be
"why chunk and not dbspace".  I suspect it is to ensure that a particular chunk
contains no data so that it can be removed from a dbspace, but you need to
articulate that clearly.  Next: how would you go about specifying chunks for
source and destination?  Again, remember that a fragmentation expression
specifies dbspaces, not chunks, and that is the tool that gives the finest
control over layout.  Would you be dealing with fragmented or non-fragmented
data?  Would you be moving it to other chunks in the same dbspace, or to chunks
in other dbspaces?  What sort of syntax would you suggest?  How often would it
be used?  How are you doing to identify which rows need to be moved?  Etc.  Gut
feel suggests that the feature request is unlikely to be acted upon, but I
haven't seen the detailed proposal yet...
