Logical Log backup using Omniback II

Hello.

We are using Omniback 3.5 as the storage manager for IDS2000 9.21 onbar.

I have configured a filesystem with several files each sized 512M as a
device chain for backing up the logical logs.

However, I want to de-stage the logical logs off to tape at regular
intervals (or ideally, when each file device is full).  I have tried this
using a normal filesystem backup to tape, which works fine.  That is until I
want to restore the logical logs.  I have to identify which logical logs are
in which file, and then restore each file until all logical logs are
restored.  That is fine, unless the logical logs I want to restore wrap
around all the defined files on disk.

I have tried scripting around the problem by moving files around but there
is no way of "locking" the device whilst you are manipulating it.
omnidbutil lets you see which devices are locked and free them, but not lock
them.

Has anyone successfully managed to set up a similar sort of "staging" area
and successfully managed to recover?

Regards,

Scott
