 Informix on windows NT
Hi,
We currently run Informix on Unix, but we're considering setting up
DS2000 on Windows NT
Are there any problems/issues that we should be aware of ?

Thanks,
Debbie

Well, that depends. (I'm getting the hang of this... :-)

Apart from the fact that NT is a pile of poorly constructed rubbish, no more
than under Unix really. Why are you considering the move? Also, while NT is
fine, Windows 2000 has no current ports.

 Informix on windows NT

Install it on a Member Server (not PDC or BDC).
Dont install anything else on this server - NOTHING - put your application
elsewhere.
Dont run this server short of memory (or any NT for that matter).
Keep the number of users in this Domain to a minimum (for connection time to
the database).

 Informix on windows NT

hi,
Informix Dynamic Server 2000 (DS2000), Workgroup Edition, is portable,
supporting both Windows NT and various UNIX platforms, and is optimized
to fully exploit the operating system's powerful native features. This
offers
choices in performance and scalability.

On Microsoft Windows NT, such optimizations include:

-> Implementation of virtual processors and client requests as Windows
    NT threads to take advantage of Windows NT's inherent
multithreading
    capability;
-> Effective handling of disk I/O and network I/O through the use of a
high
    -performance, Windows NT-specific Win32 application programming
    interface;
-> Use of Microsoft's advanced operating system technologies such as
    preemptive multitasking to improve resource utilization;
-> Implementation as a Windows NT Service for integrated control with
the
    operating system;
-> Integration with and full support for the Windows NT Registry
-> Use of Windows NT Event Service to report and store system alerts
    and events.

Requirements of DS2000 on Windows NT to install:

Hardware Requirements
For NT Server:
    32-MB RAM
    64-MB swap space
   40-MB disk space
   CD-ROM Drive
For PC Client (development system)
   100-percent IBM-compatible PC
   486/66 or greater
   32-MB RAM
   50-MB disk space
   CD-ROM drive
   VGA monitor

Software Requirements :
For NT Server:
    Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 3 or above)
    TCP/IP
    WinNT File System (NTFS)
For PC Client
