If you have a filtered index and load a file from disk using
filetoclob it gets filtered, no rocket science here.  But if you
insert from a html type into the indexed column then it doesn't
filter, which is a bummer.

Simple question, how to I get the insert to filter when I'm inserting
from another table?

Must be a bug or setup problem. Both the DataBlades are designed to
filter the documents regardless of the source.

If I do a htmltofile and then filetoclob it works, but it doesn't
if I do a direct insert.

Like us :-))  It works fine and we've yet to have a problem with it.

OK, OK apart from this problem.

Both the direct insert and filetoclob() go through VII which sends the
insert/update request to the DataBlade - it's the same code path in both
cases. So if it's working in one case and not the other, I would suggest
contacting tech support. The fastest way to get this resolved is to have the
shortest possible reproduction script and give it to tech support.
