JDBC and Lock Mode : 'could not position within a table' ?

Hello !

I'm trying to have 2 similar Java program (using JDBC 2.20 JC1) connecting
the same table an Informix 8.3 XPS.
I get the error "Could not position within a table".
I suspect a lock issue, and think that a SET LOCK MODE TO WAIT could solve
everything.
Unfortunatly, I have no visibility on the statements of the program and
cannot change them (therefore, not SET LOCK MODE command is possible).

Am I right on my suspiscions ?
Am I stuck, or is there an alternate solution ?

Thanks a lot for your help, and Best Wishes for 2002.

I think if your Java software (driver) doesn't allow for a "set lock mode to
wait" or doing dirty (uncommitted) reads, you're stuck.
It really depends on the software you are using. I was using Datastage 4.0 a
couple of months ago, which also could not do dirty reads. The only way to
work around that was to schedule my Datastage runs after hours when the
tables were hopefully not locked - but there was no guarantee.

Maybe someone on the list has a solution for you. Unfortunately I don't know
Java.
