 HDR Replication Performance Issue
I want to set up HDR between my production server and a stand-by server.

What performance implications on my production system do I have to expect ???

I have IDS 9.21 and two HP K-class servers

Regards

 HDR Replication Performance Issue

If you run in asynch mode (like we do), hardly any impact at all -- I'd say
1-2%, *maybe* as much as 5%.  If you run in synch mode, tho, you could
probably expect a 15-25% performance hit, depending on network latencey
between the two servers.  Generally, HDR has much less impact on a system
than ER does.

Probably the biggest impact using HDR is that often folks will undersize the
secondary server and then try to overwork it as well.  Often folks will try to
move all of the reporting programs to the secondary server. But that can cause a
'backflow' of the logs being shipped to the secondary server.  Basically if the
server is so busy running reporting programs that they have difficulty receiving
the log pages from the source.  So be a bit careful not to try to overload the
secondary server if using an HDR pair.

What may be going wrong when it's more than that?
