 Hyperscript Tools

HI!
I am Clue-LESS about Informix's Hyperscript Tools, I am now evaluating this
software...I thought that I installed it correctly, but when I try to
run the 'scripts' that are in the examples directory, I ALWAYS get the
error message < Error: missing ')'  >   during the execution of the example
scripts.
The code *seems* to look okay...???
--------------
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Thanks for any input on this problem of mine (one o' the many!).

That's about what we got out of it too. We kinda maybe think that it's
a problem with our INET not hooking up properly, though we can't
explain that either. Also our machine has only 8MB TOTAL, and Informix
mentions that they want 8MB FREE, so we may be hitting a memory thing
-- although I don't think so, out of memory is usually much more
dramatic.

Does your version take an eternity to start up too?

Yes, loading Hyperscript takes forever, and I have 16 meg under the hood
+ a 50 meg swap file. The thing is that it doesn't read from the disk
very frequently either. I guess it must be doing something over the net
when it starts up. It would be interesting to know what it's doing.

As for astaff's problem, it would help to know what engine their using and
if their using i-net pc etc. Has Hyperscript tools contact with the dbase
server?

Sincerely

SoM

I was getting this this exact "missing ')'" problem untill I traced
the sqlturbo process on the sparc (running online) and founf that it
couldn't access the tbconfig file. Looks as though to run Inet-pc,
modes on that file need to be 644. After changing that, Hyperscript
tools on the PC could connect fine to Online on the sparc.

Now, my next problem. It runs slooooooowwwwww on the pc.
When I start hyperscript tools, everything is fine. A single script
that basically just does:

execute immediate "database sjltest"

runs dead fast.

Adter playing on the thing for a while, I notice the app starting to
run slow and running this test again may takke up to 30 secs.

E.g. I tried running the mkdb thing (to install the sunset db)in the
examples directory. This was running, but I killed it after about 2
hours. It should have completed before then!!!!

Any clues would be appreciated - I'm running hstools/inet-pc on a 386
with 8MB RAM, DOS5.0, windows3.1

Cheers,
        Steve

I queried an internal email alias, and am including a couple of the
responses.  Hope it helps!
