 creating index with illegal character
Am new to Informix, trying to re-create SAP index named "sapr3".mseg~r
using DBACCESS.  DBACCESS reports illegal character has been found
(tilde).  Can't find any info about ESCAPE characters for odd
characters other than wildcard characters. Can anyone help?
Thanks, Terry

Terry,

you can use nonalphabetic characters in informix identifiers by setting
the environment variable DELIMIDENT before starting dbaccess.
Then you have to write the identifier in double quotes.
(Informix Guide to SQL: reference)
$ DELIMIDENT=1 ; export DELIMIDENT
$ dbaccess ...
... create index "ix~.." ...
