 Form data disappearing

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with only the data on a
form disappearing from view when a user trys to add new information to
existing data? What is happening is that the data is still there, because
if the user exits the form right away and goes back into it, the data
shows up again. It is just when the data is altered on the form that
sporadically all the old data on the form is turned invisible.

The form is being called from user selection on a form menu. Before
pulling up the form, several calculations are being done, and items are
being checked on the form and altered by methods based on the form data.
At this time the data is present on the form, and the form is in edit
mode. The user then inputs more data and changes existing data, then runs
a calculation by pressing a button. Sporadically, the data on the form is
then rendered invisible. Then the user would have to exit the form and go
back in, but the only the original data would be on the form again. I have
seen this happen several times. There is no key violation message or any
other error message.

My users are getting confused by this problem. Sometimes they think their
data is gone, and they proceed to reenter all the old data all over again
without exiting. I definitely would like to find a solution to this.

Thanks in advance.

Did you create this form?  Do you understand the form's data model,
and how it works?  My guess is either data appears to disappear
because it "flies away" (it is resorted as soon as the data is
posted), or a filter is being set, or when a value is changed in
a master table, no data shows in the detail table, because there
is no longer any corresponding data.

Make sure that the detail tables are read only if they are not being
updated.

 Form data disappearing

I have encountered a similar problem, the data field of a detail table
(set as READ-ONLY in DM) may disappear.  This most likely occur when the
underlying data has been altered using OPAL.  This also happened under a
network environment occasionally even the data is not modified.
