 Mysterious Unexpected Condition message

can anyone help explain this message?

Unexpected condition: GP 0000 at paradox:28:12f1 -- leaving paradox.

It comes up when I try to start Paradox (4.02) and just drops back to
the DOS prompt.

Thanks for any help.

 If you have more that 16mb of memory you must start Pdox with the
-extk switch. (e.g.   Paradox -extk 16000, if under win95 - paradox.exe
-extk 16000)

Tom, try Paradox -extk 16000 if your mainboard now has 16mb ram or more.
Version 4.0x didn't know how to handle so much ram without this command.

Believe the message. Put the following around your code:

try
   ; your code here
onFail
   errorShow()
endTry

Also try using the x.view("Viewing value of variable x")

to track down the problem.

Has anyone had any problems exporting to ANY type file in Paradox 7
using Windows 95 ver. 2?

It doesn't matter what type file we try to export to (ascii, dbase III+,
etc.) we get "you have tried to use an unassigned variable.  A variable
must be assigned a value before you can use it."  Then "An error was
triggered in a Create operation."  and finally "Invalid file name"  This
was all the same error, we just clicked >> for more info.  This was
tried on sample files as well.

Is there something that needs to be set for this environment that we
don't know about?  I haven't used Paradox for years and am trying to
help a customer.  We are using FAT32 - Can Paradox handle it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Pam Harris

I had problems with Pdox7 in Win95b as well until I downloaded and
installed the BDE3.5 update that provides support for FAT32 systems.
You can find the update file at:

You need IDAPI 3.5 to handle FAT32, you should be able to down load it from
Borland
