Direct Connection between 2 computers to share Database
Hi
I'mworking with Delphi and paradox
I'm trying to connect 2 computers directly with net cards (without server)
but i can't share the directory for the net files (.lck)
I can only activate the Application from one computer at a time (thay share
the database dir)
I always get the mesage about dirctory is controled by another Net file
even thue I Shared a directory
it looks like the shared directory must be addressed with the same name from
both computers, that I did not succed
Can anyone help??
Thanks
David

This is true. To do this is relatively simple. One solution that we have
used in the past for peer to peer is to map a network drive to one of them
as O (for example). On the other machine put the line in the autoexec.bat:

subst c:\ o:

This way both machines have an O drive pointing to exactly the same place.
Then, you could set the net directory to be o:\NetDir on both.

Here's another vote for your suggestion.  We've been doing that here for
years, with various Pdox apps.  Once we saw the light, we had to modify all
our scripts, but that was 8 yrs ago, and they've run fine since then, through
3 hardware upgrades.
