Paradox 3.0 printer support

 Paradox 3.0 printer support

The answer is it depends.  Paradox 3.0 had very limited printer support
and that of course was limited to printers that existed at the time.  In
addition printer control strings could be sent manually for
non-supported printers.  Windows 95 appears to provide some support for
DOS applications run in a DOX window.  I have a DOS application which
prints to my LJIII and EPson under Windows 95 and previously under Win
3.1.  If you are not asking for any more than you had under DOS (only
characters) it should work especially if you can run the printer in an
emulation mode such as PCL.

The question is not if Paradox will support the printer, But will
YOUR reports support the printer. Do they contain printer controls within the
Report (Calculated Fields)? Make a copy of the Report (tools copy report
sametable) and make an LJ version.  I use odd report numbers for Epsom FX and
offset = 1 ;1 laser attached, 0 basid dot matrix.
the NEXT (even) for HP. then I call Report "foo" 3 + offset  in my scripts
The reports differ sometimes because of the different Page Lengths, and Font
Pitches used.

The basic Esc Codes for a Laserjet are the same for most HP PCL based printers.
You can probably get away with that default printer type.
You can also run Custom and define as many New Printer types (Setup Strings)
as you like.PageLength = 60  ;Not 66 as on a dot matrix .

I am currently running a small business application in Paradox 3.0 for DOS on a 6 year old 386SX.  I am planning to upgrade to a pentium with Windows 95 and a new color printer (perhaps HP Deskjet).  Will my Paradox 3.0 be able to support this new printer?
