Changeto query for converting date format ??
Our Paradox 5.0 database is populated with many date fields, all of
which are xx/xx/xx format.  Before I start manually changing all the
dates to a 4-digit format, I was wondering if there's a changeto query
I could perform which would somehow enter "19" in front of all the
2-digit years.

Not being a Paradox pro, my first idea was something like
../../..,changeto ../../19..    As expected it, it didn't work. =]

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Travis,

If the fields are date-type fields, the data is already correct, it's
simply being *displayed* with only two digits.  So, you simply need to
change the display format to show all 4 digits.  I recommend changing
the following:

Control Panel > Regional Settings; Date tab - change to 4-digit year
IDAPI/BDE - chang the date format to 4-digit year
In Paradox, change all date fields (table, form, report) to display all
4 digits.  As I recall, in v5, you right click on the field and there's
a Format option in the popup menu... If necessary, create a custom
format.

If the fields are not date-type fields, let us know, I'm sure we can
provide examples of what to do.

Regards,

Liz

Travis

If your fields are date fields, the values are correct already. If you see
two digt years it depends on the display setting you are using. By default
it is Windows Short, so change your Windows setting to four digit year.

And make sure you are using the same setting in Bde Configuration.

Changing date format for a table is simple at least in paradox 7. Maybe it
works in version 5 also.

1. Set BDE to 4 character year.

2. Right click on the date field in the table, select Properties and then
Format tab.
Set format to DBDate. Accept.

The same can be done on a form's date field when in design mode.
