 Sorted report...

I have a table in a report that is generated by a query and is sorted.
However when it is displayed by the report the records are not sorted.
If I view the table directly then it is shown to be sorted.

How can force the report to not change the order of the records?

Thanks,

More information may be necessary here, but if you have grouping bands
in your report, there's no way around it unless you take the band out.
If this is not the case, what kind of report format are you using?

This appears to be similar to a problem I had recently.  A report based
on a sorted query seemed to print with the records unsorted inside
report bands.  It turned out that they were sorted by the original sort
order of the (keyed) table.  Even though the answer table was sorted
according to the sort order set for the query.

I fixed it by opening the query in a text editor and rearranging the
columns to place the columns I wanted the table sorted by on the left.
This caused the answer table and report to be sorted in the correct
order.  Rearranging the columns in the query window alone did not fix
this.  It had to be done on the query code itself in a text editor in
order for the change to stick.

Hope this helps!

Does your report contain any groups?  If the report includes even one group,
then the rest of the records get printed in their original (not sorted) order.
The solution to this is to generate the Answer table using a query string from
within a script or form method and arrange the fields (from left to right) in
the order that you want them sorted.  If you try rearranging the fields inter-
actively or by editing the text in a qbe file this will not work.  You must use
a query string.
