 Paradox tables & Remote Access

I don't know if anyone else has tried the following, or if someone has some
inside information about how IDAPI works, but here goes...

I am trying to use a remote access program called Reachout. The idea is that a
person with a laptop can call our office and have a Delphi (or Paradox 4
Windows, I've tried both) write data to the laptop's C: drive, to a Paradox 4.0
table.

For some reason the index does not get updated when the program writes to the
table. The data does get transfer (I ran the Table Repair Utility from 5.0),
and all the data is there. If I restructure the table, this time not using
indexes, every works out just fine. Howerver, I REALLY need to update INDEXED
tables.

I've tried calling tech support at Reachout. They said they know users who do
this all the time, with Paradox for Dos, but not Windows, so they couldn't help
me.

Has anyone else tried using a remote access program. Maybe a different on, like
Carbon Copy or PCAnywhere?

I got it working yesterday, but I'm not sure how because I tried two solutions
at the same time. I upgraded my version of Reachout on both the host and
client's PC (from 4.02 to 4.04). Also when we did the original install we
told Reachout that we weren't using ANY remote access. This time we set the
remote access for both client & server. From reading part of the tech.doc file
when using remote access a flag is set in the [386enh] area of system.ini,
something about TimeCriticalSection = 10000.
I also found out that there is still a newer version of Reachout just
released, verion 5.0. They replace the TRS's with DLL's so it should free up a
lot of memory.

I hope you get it working also. What I am doing is having a user call in to
the office and run a program written in DELPHI (which uses the same DB engine
as Paradox for Windows) which reads from 6 tables on the network then write the
data directly to the drive of the person calling. It not only works like a
charm, but it saved me a lot of coding.

I am using Reachout to connect our two ministry offices. I use the drive
mapping
function and all my window applications can read and write to the hard
drive
at the main office with no problem. the only problem I have is with
paradox for
windows. Paradox will not access the tables on the main office computer.
Have you gotten this to work ???

I am willing to try anything to get this to work
