OPAL tc.add slow on SQL

 OPAL tc.add slow on SQL

I am using paradox 7 with an MS-SQL server.  We use the MS ODBC drivers for
the SQL server connection.  Works great! But...

I have some fairly large composite indexed tables on the SQL server.  When
I do a Tools|Utilities|Add to add records to these tables it goes fast (5
seconds).  If I do a tc.add(":sqlalias:table") or a
tb.add(":sqlalias:tablename") in Object Pal the same operation takes
serveral minutes.  Here's an example.

var
   tc    tcursor
endvar

tc.open(":priv:sourcetable.db")
tc.add(":sqlalias:desttable", true, false)

The above method takes MUCH, MUCH longer to run than the same action done
through the paradox menu.  I've tried many things such as using table vars
instead, using a tcursor in memory, startransaction/committransaction,
etc.. and nothing I do will speed it up.  Is it a BDE/ODBC configuration
problem?  This is really frustrating since I know it CAN go quickly when
not using OPAL.

Please help.  This is seriously effecting some peoples productivity where I
work.
